The Jury for the Heritage Film Festival 2014 conducted on 30 - 31 October and 1 - 2 November in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The jury screens film submissions and judge them on a variety of criteria including relevance of research, content, cinematic style and clarity of presentation. Esther David is an Indian author who lives in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. She writes in English and her novels are based on the Jewish experience in India. She weaves her stories around the Bene Israel Jewish community of India. Esther David has received the Sahitya Akademi Award for 2010 for English Literature from the Government of India.
She has worked with untrained artists and folk artists for many years. She was involved with Lalit Kala Academy and West Zone Cultural Centre (WZCC) and also made art videos on art education for EMRC.
Esther David studied art at Faculty of Fine Arts, Maharaja Sayajirao University, Vadodara, Gujarat. She has been a sculptor, art critic and has taught Art History and Art Appreciation at well known design schools of Ahmedabad. She was chairperson Gujarat State Fine Arts Academy and is still part of the art world and illustrates her own novels. She also created an art movement known as Intuitive art and has worked with uneducated natural artists of Ahmedabad. These paintings, sculptures, quilts and patchwork paintings were exhibited at UNESCO, Paris in 1993 at Gallery Bonvin on the theme of Art in Underprivileged Areas and Intuitive Art on the International Woman’s Day.
Ravji Sondarva is a alumni of Film and Television Institute of India with specialisation in MOTION PICTURE PHOTOGRAPHY [Cinematography]. He was associated with ISRO 1982 to 1984, and Educational Multimedia Research Centre(EMMRC) Ahmedabad 1984 to 2012.as a Cameraman.
He has been part of various documentary, promotional Ad, TV Serials and Gujarati as well as Hindi feature films.
He has received various awards for best cinematography in feature films and TV Serial.
Aditi Desai wears many feathers in her cap. She has pursued a theatre career from childhood under guidance of eminent theatre person and her father Shri Jashwant Thaker. She has also worked extensively in Regional Television, films and Radio and has acted in both Gujarati and Hindi Films.
She has worked as a freelance media person, consultant, filmmaker and a theatre trainer. Her key area of interest is Theatre work, Video film making, Development of popular educational material, Trainings – Gender and theatre, Developing media and campaign strategies.
She has made 21 video documentaries, docu-drama, video-spots, video programs for teacher’s training on various social and environment issues and directed 18 plays till now.
She received the Mac-Arthur Fellowship from1997 to 1999. Her documentary on eminent theater person,-Jashwant Thaker – Rangbhoomi Na kalakar has won award.
At present she is associated as a director of Jashwant Thaker Memorial Foundation.
Armed with an education background of Art and Design from Baroda Fine Arts and NID inputs, Villoo Mirza has a keen interest in history of art and culture. She served in the development corporation for 12 years as Chief Designer in facilitating artisans to compete with the contemporary markets with design and material innovations. Also established the National Fashion Technology Institute, NIFT in Gujarat and built up Research and Development section to explore the technology part of apparel industry and jewellery design.
She joined as Strategic Consultant in SEWA Trade Facilitation Centre to set up supply chain with the grassroots level rural and urban artisans to create a brand to cater to the contemporary global market.
With her background of creativity she has served for 30 years as a team leader, an institutional head, and fellow team leader to raise an organisation.
Villoo Mirza has dedicated her career spanning over three decades working with women and empowering them through skill-building and livelihood programs. With a firm belief that talent needs to be discovered, developed and nurtured, she believes in creativity with cause and works with women to promote it.
She runs a creative venture called ‘Design Deals’ which is an outlet for her innovative mind and expression of ideas.
